Doula Grant - Application Period Open

Willow Wish Doula Grant assists wherever you birth

Willow Wish Doula Grant Applications Due May 15th

Willow Wish is pleased to announce an open application period for birthing families who wish to receive doula care to support the birth journey but cannot afford the out-of-pocket cost to do so. Willow Wish is now accepting applications for two (2) Doula Grants, ($750 per grant), to be awarded in May 2022.

Applicants are not limited to a specific birth place as this grant is specific to doulas, not birth centers. Applicants of planned homebirth, birth center, and hospital birth are welcome to apply for a Willow Wish Doula Grant.

The Doula Grant is offered with the intention of covering evidence-based care for the birth journey without pressuring the birthing family into accepting additional services provided by doulas beyond birth support. Any additional arrangements beyond the basic requirements for birth services are between the applicant and their doula.

WILLOW WISH DOULA GRANT: $750

  • ~ Text/Phone support from 1st prenatal visit through the last postpartum visit
  • ~ Doula Grant Recipients will not have any monies owing to doula for birth journey support - that part of the doula fee is considered paid in full.

Doula grants will be prioritized based on demonstration of need.  Applicants with a yearly income below 300% of the federal poverty guidelines will be considered.  Applicants with extraordinary circumstances whose income exceeds 300% of the federal poverty guidelines will also be considered. An explanation of the extraordinary circumstances should be included in the applicant’s appeal statement.

If the doula misses the birth, Doula can forfeit $350 and settle for $150 when she does the postpartum visit and both parties complete the testimonial questionnaire for a total contract payment of $400.

If the doula misses the birth and wants to get compensated for the full grant value of $750, they can work 5 (3 hour) postpartum shifts with the family for a total of 15 postpartum hours.  This entitles her to the full $350 she would have received for birth support.

Willow Wish reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of this Doula Grant at any time in order to best serve the needs of the birthing families in the community.
