It was difficult for my family to initially embrace an out-of-hospital birth, because they had fear-based knowledge of the process. I had gathered from the stories of others that hospitals do not traditionally practice a women-centered approach to birthing. With this information, as well as my own experiences, I felt compelled to make the best decision for my family by choosing an out-of-hospital birth.
